A community center for the mentally ill

How You Can Help

Over the years, the support of our community has been essential to the development of our clubhouse. We are very grateful. We appreciate your support, whether it is a monetary gift, a donated item, or the gift of your time.

Gifts

Your gift in support of Independence Center may be made in the following ways. For more information contact Michael Pierce at (847) 360-1020 or mpierce@icwaukegan.org.

Cash Gifts - Gifts of cash are entirely tax-deductible and may be made in honor or memory of a loved one.

Matching Gifts - Your employer may match your contribution to Independence Center. Just send your company's matching gift form with your contribution to us.

Gifts of Appreciated Assets - These gifts, such as gifts of stock, are always welcome. Contact you financial advisor regarding transferring stock.

Planned Gifts - Planned gifts allow you to fulfill your charitable intentions with many other benefits. Through your will, the establishment of a trust, or other estate-planning tool, you may support your favorite charity, supplement your income, and enjoy numerous tax benefits.

Donated Items

Realizing the need for housing for the mentally ill, Independence Center has made a commitment to do everything possible to assist members in their search for safe, decent, and affordable housing. It is not uncommon for Independence Center staff and members to provide assistance in selecting an apartment, making deposits, obtaining furniture and food, and in making the actual move. We are presently in need of household items such as furniture, sheets, towels, kitchen items, toilet tissue, etc. that would assist someone moving into an apartment, maybe even for the first time. Any donations of such items would be appreciated.

There may be other items from which you feel Independence Center could benefit such as computers or office furniture. We have also received gifts of real estate for which we are extremely grateful. Please do not hesitate to contact Michael Pierce, Executive Director, if you have questions regarding a donation.

Volunteer

The Independence Center Board of Directors consists of community-minded volunteers with a commitment to mental health issues and the mission of Independence Center. If you are interested in applying to the Board of Directors, please contact Michael Pierce at (847) 360-1020 or mpierce@icwaukegan.org.

Group volunteer projects arise during the year such as landscaping, painting, and general maintenance projects. If your group is interested in a service project, please contact Michael Pierce at (847) 360-1020 or mpierce@icwaukegan.org.
