Orientation Guide for new 

Independence Center members

During your first week or two at Independence Center, make a point of participating in various facets of our program:

1.   

Visit each of our units which are:

 

 

Business Unit  

Food Service Unit

Vocational Unit

 

2.   

Attend our Community Problem Solving group, which takes place Wednesday in our dining room at 1:15 pm.

 

3.   

Attend our Government Meeting which takes place at 9:30 am Wednesdays.

 

4.   

Attend at least one of our Skill Building Groups.  See the handout on Independence Center Skill Building Groups in your orientation packet.

 

5.   

Please read the Independence Center Handbook.

 

6.   

Be sure to schedule and complete Intake Paperwork with Gene Marceron or Nasrullah Khan.

 

7.   

Meet with one of our Vocational Placement Specialists, James George or Michael Malone for a Vocational Assessment.

 

8.   

Meet with our Staff, Gene Marceron, Josh Vollendorf and Nasrullah Khan for a Housing Assessment.  

The Independence Center staff (Nasrullah Khan and Gene Marceron) will assist you with scheduling all of these activities.  Thank you and welcome to the Independence Center.
